TRON (TRX/USD) closed 2018 with strength relative to the last couple of months. It is currently trading around $0.0208. At this price level, the market is up more than 90% from its 2018 low of $0.0111 on November 25.

This huge surge in less than one month is more than enough reason for many traders to be bullish on TRON. However, one must also consider that when the market bottomed out, it lost close to 90% of its value from the 2018 peak of $0.10041. Thus, it would also make sense to say that the recent bounce is nothing more than a relief rally.

That is why it is important to examine the market closely to see whether TRON has more upside potential. We did that for you and what we saw was promising. In this article, we reveal how TRON is showing bullish signs.

Structure Resembles Market Leader

In any asset class, whether it be equities or cryptocurrencies, there are some instances when a market leader emerges and then everyone else follows its direction. For example, Apple Inc. was down big yesterday, January 3. Notice how many tech stocks followed suit.

As for cryptocurrencies, the clear market leader right now is Ethereum (ETH/USD). It is currently trading around $160 to put the market up by over 95% from its 2018 low of $83. More importantly, Ethereum has taken out firm resistance of $145. This triggered the breakout from the cup and handle pattern.

Digital asset hedge fund wagers $1 million on crypto to outperform stock market this decade

Bitcoin price

Morgan Creek puts up a $1 million wager, inviting investors who believe the crypto market won’t outperform the S&P 500 to put their money where their mouth is, according to a CNBC report.

Morgan Creek operates an index fund called the Digital Asset Index Fund, in partnership with Bitwise Asset Management. The index funds offer high net-worth investors exposure to the top cryptocurrencies by market value.

The cryptocurrency investment firm is calling the challenge the Buffett Bet 2.0, mimicking Warren Buffet’s 2007 decision to bet $1 million that the S&P 500 would do better than a group of hedge funds against asset manager Protégé Partners. Buffet ended up winning the bet before donating his earnings to charity. Likewise, Morgan Creek is calling on any investor who believes the S&P 500 would produce more returns than Morgan Creek’s crypto investments over a 10 year period.

Co-founder and partner at Morgan Creek, Anthony Pompliano, said whoever’s on the other side of the bet has to be either someone bullish on the index fund or someone who believes cryptos are overvalued.

“This is a combination of our outlook not only for...

Binance announced Friday that it would be adding a few new USD Coin pairs and moving its two existing USDC pairs into the combined stablecoin market called USDⓈ. Both ripple (XRP) and stellar (XLM) will have USD Coin pairs, in addition to their existing stablecoin pairs. The move involves the cancelling of any trades that exist in the current two USDC markets: BTC/USDC and USDC/BNB at the time of the move, essentially wiping the slate and creating fresh markets for the stablecoin.

The pairs being created with USDC are: BNB, BTC, ETH, XRP, EOS, XLM, and USDT. All of these will now be accessed through the USDⓈ asset market tab. They will no longer be in the regular coin exchange of Binance. It has BTC and ether as its primary base trading tokens.

Why are Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash plunging after $5 Billion market recovery?

ethereum wallet dapp cryptocurrency

Over the last 24 hours, the crypto market has added $5 billion to its valuation, demonstrating a slight recovery from $106 billion to $111 billion. Despite the recovery of the market, Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) continue to fall in value, both recording a three percent drop against the U.S. dollar.

On December 9, the Ethereum price fell by around three percent from $97 to $93, failing to sustain the short-term momentum it garnered from an unforeseen recovery it experienced on Saturday. Since its daily peak, Ethereum has declined by more than six percent against the U.S. dollar, from $100 to $93.

Bitcoin Cash has also demonstrated a weakness in its short-term price trend as it lost nearly half of its value within a two-week period. Since November 6, the Bitcoin Cash price declined from $200 to $100, by exactly 50 percent.

Why is Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash Dropping So Rapidly?

The gap between Ethereum and Ripple, which recently took over Ethereum as the second most valuable cryptocurrency in the global market, has increased to more than $3 billion within a three-week span.

Technical indicators demonstrate oversold conditions but the sheer intensity of the drop in the price of the two cryptocurrencies have created...

Bitcoin Bounces But Bears Still in Control: $BTC Price Analysis

Bitcoin price just pulled off a nice 10% bounce with the next level of resistance at $3,700. Let’s take a look at what can happen next?

Bitcoin Price: Market Overview

Bitcoin price $3645.85 +0.59% dropped to a new yearly low at $3,210 and the overall market cap now rests at $110.6 Billion. Clearly, bears are still running the show for BTC and the SEC’s final postponement of a Bitcoin exchange-traded fund decision didn’t seem to help.

Crypto-fanatics will now need to wait until January 24th for the launch of Bakkt and February 26th for a final approval or denial of a Bitcoin ETF from the SEC. If the cryptocurrency markets’ trend reversal is dependent upon either of these events then we’ve got a long way to drop waiting on the unpredictable outcomes of each of these events.

4-HR Chart

Bitcoin $3645.85 +0.59% broke below the $3,550 and $3,400 supports and the cryptocurrency will likely mean that $3,700 will post a stiff resistance to overcome. However, at press time, BTC price has managed to break above the $3,600 mark and now looks poised to test $3,700.

The bounce from $3,210 to $3,615 was...

an academic argument for Bitcoin vs. Fiat

Bitcoin vs. fiat is more than an academic argument. It’s a fierce battle between a manipulated monetary regime and one of honest weights and measures. It’s time for you to envision the benefits of a decentralized, non-manipulated monetary system.

Out of Thin Air

Fiat currency is any medium of exchange the government deems as legal tender. A $20 bill in your pocket buys $20 worth of goods and services. It’s only paper (muslin) with ink and a special electronic doodad embedded in it. Probably costs pennies to make. It’s backed by nothing of tangible value (gold, silver, land, etc). It’s money only because the US Treasury and Federal Reserve (Fed) say it is.

From Sound Money to Broken Promises

Before 1913, only the US Congress had currency creation authority. Every new dollar was backed by gold and silver in Fort Knox. This backing of USD with gold and silver ceased on August 15, 1971. That’s when President Nixon refused to honor France’s demand for physical gold in exchange for its USD reserves. The USD has been decoupled from the gold standard ever since. Worse, the national debt is now in a nonstop, parabolic ascent.

Dialing for Dollars

When the US Treasury needs money, they give the Federal Reserve (Fed, a privately owned, for-profit corporation) a ring. Say the Treasury needs $50 billion dollars. The Fed creates an electronic checkbook with a $50 billion account balance. In exchange for the cash, the Treasury gives the Fed $50 billion dollars of Treasury bonds. You can learn more about this financial alchemy in Robert Prechter’s book, Conquer the Crash.

Taxpayers on the Hook

You’re probably wondering who pays the interest on that $50 billion batch of bonds, right? Surprise! You’re the one who pays the interest, via your US federal tax bill.

Can’t be, you say?

You need to consider this quote taken from the Grace Commission Report of 1984:

“….100 percent of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the federal debt and by federal government contributions to transfer payments. In other words, all individual income tax revenues are gone before one nickel is spent on the services [that] taxpayers expect from their government.”

Let’s say your Federal income tax bill is $9,000 for 2018. Most of your tax liability will pay the Fed interest on the bonds. Part of it will cover federal pension payments. None of your tax payment will pay for any government services.

Stocks Edge Higher Despite Trump Tariff Warning; Crypto Top 10 Shake Up

U.S. stocks pulled ahead on Tuesday, as investors shrugged off calls by President Trump for additional tariffs on Chinese goods. Cryptocurrencies faltered after a solid start to the week as bitcoin SV made its debut.

Stocks Finish Higher

Equities pulled ahead in the final hour of trading, with the S&P 500 Index registering gains of 0.3% to close at 2,682.20. Seven of 11 primary sectors contributed to the gains, led by the defensive consumer staples and utilities categories. Healthcare and the much smaller real estate sector also notched solid gains.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 108.49 points, or 0.4%, to 24,748.73. Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) and Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) were the biggest contributors.

The technology-focused Nasdaq Composite Index finished flat at 7,082.70.

Trump Threatens Additional China Tariffs

U.S. President Donald Trump told The Wall Street Journal on Monday that he plans to move ahead with harsher tariffs on Chinese goods, lowering the prospect of an imminent trade deal later this week. China had requested that the president hold off on raising tariffs on $200 billion worth of U.S.-bound experts scheduled to come into effect Jan. 1. Trump not only said...

Wall Street institutions are entering the digital currency markets

Digital Currency

People know that financial institutions think of cryptocurrencies as arch enemies. But with the increase of opinions from financial advisors that the world is on the brink of another financial collapse because of inflation, maybe digital currency are the solution to some of the problems. Although not perfect, digital currency are still developing and will have a far bigger impact that most people give them. So it wouldn’t come as a surprise when financial institutions end up adopting the technology they are so actievly against. For investors, adapting to circumstances has always been the correct way. Different people use cryptocurrencies for different reasons: some want to get rich quick, others want independent control over their financial assets and some idealists desire an entirely new and efficient global economy built on blockchain technology and digital currency.

Whatever a person’s reasons for using crypto and blockchain are, there will always be a huge cultural clash when cryptocurrency holders and Wall Street ideals meet. A huge influx of institutional money would be extremely beneficial for cryptocurreny prices in the short term, but in the long term this will cause extreme volatility. Recently the sixth-biggest fund manager in the world, Fidelity started to offer digital trading services and it shook the landscape even more. The announcement of this project was aimed at the trading demands of large institutional investors. These demands will in turn provide services like “institutional-grade custody”, large scale leverage trading and more, all of which should pump cryptocurrency prices, but will basically just bring more whales to the digital currency free market.

Institutional money will spike Digital Currency prices

People who believe or want to be financially independent from banks will not like this. In fact, most supporters and users of Bitcoin stand firmly behind Bitcoin’s philosophy that you can be your own bank. Developers and investors with insight however, knew that this day would eventually come. Risk management will see those institutions passing off the risk of holding the said assets to...

What a Crypto Mining Scam Looks Like

Featured Image3
Featured Image3

Whether it’s Power Mining Pool today or Bitconnect yesterday, the crypto space is festering with parasitic scams and opportunistic swindlers. The conditions are ripe for them and there’s money to be made.

Among the dangers, Bitcoin mining scams are a tough one to identify and parting the good from the nasty can be tricky. Mining scams are wrapped up in an already technically demanding task of Bitcoin mining. They are billed as a consumer-friendly method for building exposure to Bitcoin mining, and when run like this, they really do provide value for investors looking to diversify.

Legit Bitcoin cloud mining pools are too often buried in search results and outranked by throngs of fly-by-night operations. Finding the legit pools can be a tall order and require sifting through Reddit posts and Bitcointalk forum entries.

With that said, there are legit mining operations out there. As always, do your own research and stay skeptical as we settle and develop this wild frontier. For now, let’s take a look at what a crypto mining scam looks like to hopefully better prepare us to identify the key red flags.

Cloud Mining Pools and Ponzi Schemes: A Match Made in He….

Let’s take a moment to clear up what a cloud mining pool is and why they attract Madoff-like Ponzi schemes faster than ants at a picnic.

What’s a Cloud Mining Pool?

A cloud mining pool is the most hands-off version of crypto mining you can get. They allow a participant to rent or lease hashing power not directly owned by themselves. The rented hashing power is then pooled and paid out proportionally to the members (after fees and operational costs).

A traditional mining pool instead requires participants to supply their own hashing power and pool it with other miners. The participant owns and operates their own hardware and contributes to the pool’s overall hashing power.

The critical difference between a cloud mining pool and a traditional mining pool is the ownership of the hardware.

Cloud mining: you don’t own the hardware (hashing power).
Traditional mining: you own hardware (hashing power).

Why pool at all? In short, block rewards become more difficult to obtain as overall hashing power of a particular blockchain increase.

Take Bitcoin as an example. There was a time in Bitcoin mining when a standard CPU could mine whole blocks itself. Gone are those days. Bitcoin mining is now big business with plenty of stakeholders leveraging their resources into the security of the blockchain.

Miners with serious hashing power make it improbable for small miners to reasonably expect block rewards. Their hashing power is just not enough to compete.

The solution: gather together all these smaller players and pool their hashing power. Miners in a pool no longer compete for blocks of their own, instead, they work together and proportionally share the booty.

What’s a Ponzi Scheme?

It’s theft, let’s just clear that up. If you’re in a Ponzi scheme you are either being robbed or doing the robbing yourself.

A typical Ponzi scheme involves enticing participants to invest their money into a fund or investment strategy that has seemingly guaranteed returns. In reality, and with variation, the returns are not gained by real-world trading or superior business acumen. Conversely, new investments to the funds are distributed around existing investors and represented as market returns.

Power Mining Pool - Charles Ponzi
Charles Ponzi – infamously known to have created the investment scheme.

Ponzi schemes require a constant flow of new investment to keep the machine moving. Once things fall apart or new investment slows, the scheme is often revealed for what it is. In the world of crypto Ponzi schemes, a collapsing Ponzi scheme is followed by a hasty exit scam.

Keep in mind that Ponzi schemes thrive in times of economic expansion and speculative bubbles. Capturing collective optimism is pivotal to its success. Bitconnect is a choice example of the market fervor getting the best of investors.

Identifying the Red Flags of a Cloud Mining Ponzi Scheme

Firstly, the duck test. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

The duck test isn’t scientific by any standard but can be used to leverage your gut feeling to identify early warning...
