Coinbase users can now withdraw Bitcoin SV balances to external wallets

Coinbase Finally Makes Bitcoin SV Funds Available for Withdrawal

If you’re a Coinbase user, you may have seen some new tokens on your account. The Bitcoin Cash chain split into two different chains back in November. It means that if you held Bitcoin Cash on November 15, you became the lucky owner of Bitcoin SV and Bitcoin ABC. And Coinbase just started handing out Bitcoin SV to its users if you’re involved in the split.

The split happened because Bitcoin Cash developers couldn’t agree on an upgrade. Some developers backed an upgrade to the code called Bitcoin ABC while others defended a more conservative update dubbed Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (Bitcoin SV).

Coinbase Users Can Now Withdraw BSV to External Wallets

Major American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase now allows its users to withdraw Bitcoin SV (BSV) balances to external wallets, according to an announcement published on Feb. 14.

BSV appeared following a hard fork in the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) blockchain in November of last year. The for resulted in two new coins; Bitcoin SV and Bitcoin ABC. The camp for Bitcoin SV (Satoshi’s Vision) was lead by Australian computer scientist Craig Wright, who has previously declared himself to be Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

After the hard fork, Coinbase users holding BCH received an equal amount of BSV, however the exchange has, until now, not provided an option for...

The core developers of Ethereum have called for a delay to the activation of Constantinople, just hours before the long-awaited hard fork was scheduled to go live on the third-largest cryptocurrency’s network.

Ethereum Hard Fork Delayed

In a statement, the Ethereum Core Developers and Ethereum Security Community said that they decided to postpone the hard fork after security researchers identified a potential vulnerability in one of the software upgrades.

“Security researchers like ChainSecurity and TrailOfBits ran (and are still running) analysis across the entire blockchain. They did not find any cases of this vulnerability in the wild. However, there is still a non-zero risk that some contracts could be affected,” the statement read.

Because the risk is non-zero and the amount of time required to determine the risk with confidence is longer the amount of time available before the planned Constantinople upgrade, a decision was reached to postpone the fork out of an abundance of caution.

According to the statement, that potential vulnerability stemmed from EIP-1283, which introduces a cheaper gas cost for SSTORE operations. Researchers believe that it’s possible that had EIP-1283 been activated, certain smart contracts that are already running on Ethereum could have become vulnerable to reentrancy attacks.

Zcash Hard Fork Scheduled Before Halloween

Zcash is an open, permissionless cryptocurrency designed to protect privacy. It is the creation of Zooko Wilcox-O’Hearn, who is also known for “Zooko’s triangle” and the Majo Nation P2P system.

The news is that the founders have just released their version 2.0.0. They are encouraging all users and miners to upgrade to the new version as quickly as possible.

The great thing about 2.0.0? It is “Sapling compatible.” Sapling is the term used in the Zcash orbit to refer to an upcoming hard fork, expected on October 28, that will amount to a major protocol upgrade, allowing shielded/private addresses to be supported by mobile and hardware wallets, exchanges, and payment processors.

October 28th will also be the second anniversary of the official launch of Zcash.
